Level Goals:
This project was a two-week mobile game assignment centered on creating a lightweight environment with low-poly assets that captured the charm and creativity of a child’s room. Drawing inspiration from Toy Story, Green Army Men, and Clash Royale, the design aimed to evoke nostalgia while maintaining the visual clarity and simplicity needed for a mobile game.
My primary responsibilities included designing the layout of the map and modeling the level using Unity 6’s modeling tools. I began by blocking out the map and its core features, ensuring the three-lane design supported the gameplay mechanics. Once the blockout was complete, I replaced it with carefully selected low-poly assets, focusing on finding options that delivered high-quality visuals without compromising performance.
The goal of the level was to recreate a child’s room as the battlefield for toy soldiers. The design featured three distinct lanes where players could spawn army men in a rock-paper-scissors-style combat system, aiming to destroy the enemy base while protecting their own. The room’s layout was crafted to feel playful and immersive, with elements like toy blocks, furniture, and other props serving as both obstacles and environmental storytelling.
This project provided an opportunity to explore efficient level design for mobile platforms, balancing performance constraints with engaging visuals and gameplay. It was a chance to refine my process of transitioning from blockouts to polished environments and to learn how to design with accessibility and clarity in mind for mobile audiences.
