Roman Colosseum

Designing an Immersive Colosseum Experience

The purpose of this project was to explore the architectural elements of a Roman Colosseum and practice turning them into a functional setting for combat and gameplay. I wanted to capture the iconic symmetry and grandeur of the structure while focusing on how these elements could shape player movement and engagement.

A major goal was finding a balance between the visual impact of the space and the practicalities of gameplay. I experimented with layout ideas that guide movement, create opportunities for strategy through sightlines and elevation, and incorporate flexible cover points. The modular approach was chosen to leave room for further iteration and adjustments based on feedback or new ideas.

This blockout reflects my ongoing efforts to better understand how scale, composition, and functionality work together in level design. It’s an early exploration of a concept I hope to refine and build upon, as I continue working towards creating more immersive and dynamic environments.
